Interior Design Tips for Bedroom Lighting and Window Coverings

Room lighting is the most important element in bedroom design, next to a comfortable bed. An Interior Designer can help you find the tools needed to achieve a good balance of light in your bedroom. Below are some bedroom design tips we use to create bedroom spaces our customers love.

A large bedroom with a recessed ceiling, large window with black out drapes.

Choosing the optimal bedside lighting for your bedroom is important. Our first design tip is to use swing arm wall sconces to provide subtle room lighting and nightstand lamps with ambient light for reading. Secondly, if you want an overhead light that provides general lighting and ties the look of the room together, don’t be afraid to purchase a statement piece. This light is usually the first thing you see when you enter in the room.

And finally, to promote healthy sleep patterns, it’s important to ensure your bedroom is both a dark and cozy environment. Custom draperies are often used by Interior Designers to block out light and noise. Draperies can even affect the temperature of a room by blocking the hot sun during the day, so your room is cooler at night. Our custom draperies are both stylish and effective.

At Lush Interiors, we’ve designed hundreds of bedrooms for our clients. We have the experience to find you amazing custom lighting and draperies for your bedroom. If you need help incorporating any of these ideas into your home interiors, our design team is always available!
